Bask in music: childhood dreams

Saturday night was some sort of a rush. After convincing and 'un-convincing' myself, I gave in. I went to the TanduayFirst5 concert to hear Rico Blanco. lol. So, yeah I'm a fan(!) and was really thrilled upon knowing that he's included in this year's roster of artists. I seldom go out and it was my first time to go to the T5 event (after not going last year despite the ticket I already did have). I was thinking of not going...but I'm a ride away from a childhood dream. (Ha-ha! Fan mode kung fan mode!) Thanks to my Mama for letting me go out. :D

trying to squeeze in :)
One thing that made this sort of memorable (aside from Rico Blanco, of course) is the fact that I went there by myself. I was to meet my sister but since it's hard for her to squeeze out and squeeze in again, I braved the crowd myself. Hihi. It was my first T5 event so I really didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, it wasn't really a very wild crowd. Also, I learned how to push my way to the front. He-he.

Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar.
It was also a thrill to be around with fellow fans. I think I could just observe for the most part! At one point, I felt it's a shame that I don't know they lyrics to all of Wolfgang and to some of Kamikazee. Ha-ha! It was really nice to see them fans singing to every line and even requesting songs. The crowd went wild when Wolfgang finally played Halik ni Hudas. Again, it must have been a very good song by the looks of the crowd.

Blurry pics are blurry

And yes, it was very nice to see Parokya ni Edgar and Rico Blanco on the same stage!
     Solb!

Snippets and little things

Apparently, the birthday post did not happen. Hah! Talk about plans. O_O
This comes in instead...
Or maybe, I just want to say again how sad I am not to be able to actually purchase the camera I have been eyeing for almost two months until last week. Someone was able to buy it before I did. I have been trying to get my hands on a film camera because 1) I kind of miss film, 2) I want to take pictures again - and I want to try it with film, and lastly,  3) I just want (read: also, influence of photos I look at in the Internet). Hehe. I am again scouring for another camera... Let's see where this takes me.

Also, I have been doing some Index-card-a-day attempts since last month. I am officially hooked to collages and crafting. Well, this is not really something new but it's just now that I am really able to do these things.
Blurry pic is blurry as they are just taken by my phone. Some will have to go as I am thinking of sending them to (future) mail pals. :)

Career-wise, I am still waiting but at the same time doing my tutorials and paper works. I then realized that I have to really spend time thinking and praying about this as the year is almost ending. Keep your hopes high, Roma. :)

The day past the draft

So, that was a blog hiatus when in fact I have been into the web last month. :(
But here I am again also because it's July - the birthday month.:))

The past month was like riding in a subway train that's passing the tunnel - thrilling, weird, a bit scary, puzzling, nice. Post graduation blues, I guess. Ha-ha! Okay, for the record, I'm not trying to sound emo here! I just want to use those words! lol. It was an interesting phase, I must say. And despite the "darkness" of the tunnel, I can't help thanking God for the brighter world ahead! :)

After a few weeks of poring over ThoughtCatalog, reading blogs and e-books, watching movies, not to mention hanging out on Twitter, I resumed doing tutorials and paper works. My days suddenly went loaded. Thankfully, I still have some vacant time left. I also had gained a new perspective of life and how things go and who and what really matters.

In other news..

Yeheyy for a new baby! It's an addition to my subconsciously, unintentional growing collection. Hehe! It was good timing seeing this since my last note already ran out of pages that day I bought it (which is like just two days ago).

Some of my college pals and I went to Tupi for baby Jethro's christening. It was my second time to go to their place and it would really be nice to go back. To Myrick and Edrin, alam na! lol

Myk,Ellyn,Joh w/ baby Jethro, Edrin, Mel, Myrick, me-whatever my reaction is. Ha-ha!

And this is just really because I miss my high school pals. This was what we call our barkada. The word was just sort of stuck, thanks to Art and his vocabulary.

Soigne Group of Companies. Ha-ha!

And oh, about the aforementioned  'tunnel', tunnels are never really looooooong...and if ever they are, you can always get out. So let's move on. :)

Camerawork : fondness for pictures

I am no photographer. Not a bit. But I like pictures. A lot. I don't know. They seem to let you in into something that's far away and magical and yet you're here, with feet on the very ground you're standing on. Trying hard as I am, try to take photos whenever I get the chance. I try to take good shots albeit most of the time it's a fail, hehe. Okay, the operative is try. I believe there's not much harm in trying. :))

I had this chance to hang around the plaza this afternoon while waiting for something. I sat beside this lady who I'm not sure if she preferred to be alone on the bench or not. I suppose it was okay for her since I get to sit beside her for a couple minutes. Then I started trying.

Ha-ha! Okay, I really think there's something wrong with this one. I like that reaction on the boy-in-a-blue-shirt's face though. :)

Boundaries
I remember seeing a photo like this on Tumblr. Joined the bandwagon, apparently.

Happy feeet!
I have been going to places lately and I'm glad to know more streets in GenSan because I'm a noob like that. Back in high school, I didn't know places. Thankfully, I do now.

In other news (and in reality), I am really planning to write about something else, like four other something-else's. But since I have not organized my words yet, I ended up showing a bunch of my "photography attempts". LOL!

Some sort of an update and practice

I was able to see my college pals last week. :) It was quite an an adventure going to Joh's place at Tupi. We had some sort of hard time going to their actual house since we were not at all familiar with the place. Later on, Ron-ron showed us the "short cut" which is actually the road that we shoud've taken. I prefer the longer route though because it was nice. Hehe. :) It was such a treat to see them again - the first time again after several months. Ellen even went all the way from Surallah. I am looking forward to the next!

This week and the next week will be eventful weeks. (I have this thing for noting events on particular days and/or weeks. ) I have been working on an event together withe a friend and we are so hoping that this would be a successful one especially that this is the first of its kind she has handled. :) I have been making rounds which is tiring but fun. I am meeting people and doing things that are new to me.

I am also into lots of reading lately. Er, blog-reading, that is. There had been so many good reads around the world wide web lately and being the internet bum that I can be, I have spending time reading them - boon and a bane, srsly. Good thing is my passion for writing has been fueled again (which reminds me of the work that I have to do, hehe). The opposite bad thing is I have been always in front of the monitor. I am actually excited about the former I just hope that I would keep up the enthusiasm for a looooong time.

New notes to fill!

I am also looking forward to reading more fiction.
And to more note-taking.

This hasn't been all but I'm sparing the other awesomeness on other posts. Hehe. :)
Let me leave you with this which also a note to self for today and the days to come.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not  see.

A rundown of things

For the past weeks, I have discovered myself new interests. Well, they're not really new since they are things that I have been liking since who-knows-when. It's just that my interest for these things have become more profound.  These things include: mails, pretty art stuff that artists do, fiction books (because contrary to popular belief, I have not been really into fiction), (should i still say) blogs (I have been discovering lots of wonderful ones that I'm planning to do a post featuring them), and writing.

Aaah, the influence of media. But really, I have been getting lots from the blogs that I have read and thankful that my above mentioned interests have been made more available through the world wide web. Speaking of blogs, there are so good write-ups to read that I suddenly wanted a tab or something. Thankfully, my phone has a file reader that I have been copy + pasting them onto Word so I can save them. And read them anywhere, anytime. :)

I also have been trying to write again so forgive the long, seemingly nonsensical words streaming down this blog. I seem to give myself a warm-up. I have a couple of ideas in my mind - and my notebook - waiting to be published. Hopefully I can sit down again like this soon. Hopefully. Soon.

Here's a rundown of things that made awesome sense to me lately:
  • the awesome event that was LifeMixx Convergence. I, and the many others, was really blessed with Yeng's (yes, the pop-rock princess) testimony;
  • the amazing workshop culmination that was  Life Academy recital. Guess what, we're season 6 this year!! Akalain mo nga naman. Parang kelan lang. I cannot help but be amazed by God's faithfulness seeing that this workshop is still on today (and next year, and the next year, and the next year...).Of course, hurray to the teachers, director/s, Life coaches;
  • the reunion of mi college barkada - had quite an adventure going to Joh's place. This was the first time that we were complete after graduation :);
  • the write-ups that I have read online;
  • the reconnection I had with friends; and
  • the interesting people, conversations, circumstances that I had encountered during my rounds. :)
Grateful. :)

The Summer Getaway

Last week was a definite treat. We (all of us including Papa who just came home last week) were able to go to the beach again after, say, years - with all of us present in the picture. Going swimming was like a tradition back then; but it hasn't been the case for the past couple of years.

Isla Jardin del Mar, Glan, Sarangani Province
We were together with some family friends who were former/latter colleagues of Mama and Papa. It was quite a thrill because it was the first time that we get to spend time with them that long. Hehe.Well, it was two days of different 'firsts', to say.

Feels historical.
We passed by the market and the residential houses that were old thrilled me. Feels like Spanish-era. :)
The ride was exhilarating. I love how smooth the road is, I feel like cycling!

We had some stopovers along the way to, er, take pictures of the view. :)) Thankfully, my phone's camera did not fail me.

Sea brains?
Our family arrived first and we got a sort of shock upon arrival when we found out that it was low tide. Haha! But it gave us time to prepare our stuff  while waiting for the company.

It was actually an intro moment with the other 'kids' since we last met about two years ago and had no proper introduction, knowing each other only through faces. The 'rents, as expected, chatted their hearts out. The guys offered we play card games and this is where I had another first. We agreed that the 'losers' drink a glass of water as punishment and, guess what? I drank more than five glasses! Boo!

The tide was high by afternoon and the rest immediately swam in the waters while I decided to take a plunge the next day.

Octopus surprise!
--
Nighttime was cool, too. Since we weren't able to avail closed cottages and did not thought of renting tents, we slept in the cars instead. :))

I planned to witness the sunrise next morning but I failed :( The morning breeze was a relief, however.

The place was 'common' if you live by the sea in Glan. White sand. Clear blue waters. Awesome skies. Amazing sunsets. But it never fails to give me that sense of awe. I cannot help thanking God for letting us experience this beauty. And praising Him for it. Glorious, indeed!

Summer Sunshine

Hoorah! Before I know it, it's already April-and summer- leaving March with only one entry.
Anyways, a quick update.

I actually have a pending post but since it's quite too late after the announcement I'd be ranting about it once the project starts.

I'm into work lately. I like that I'm learning different kinds of things-and terminologies-out of this one. Plus, I'm discovering things about myself, too.
>I cannot seem to keep up with office work. I've known this since the last time I tried. I wonder when will I get the hang out of it. I guess office work plus field is okay. So far, not beyond three days.
>I can't seem to last staying in one exact place all the time. :( I'm glad that teaching requires movement. Hehe:))
>And, I can make myself not go uber dizzy (read: worst case scenario) on a trip by land -if I just really try hard...But I'm silent most of the time.

It's a green field out there, really.

Next week would be a pretty packed schedule.

On a different note, I am just so excited about this mailing thing. You see, I received a postcard yesterday from a postcard project that I joined in. (I'll be posting about it soon.) There's thrill in receiving those envelopes, especially for a letterwriting-person like me!:)) I'm excited to mail (and receive!) stuff from other sides of the world!

I'd love to post a photo but I can't just yet.
So I'd be posting this instead...

...in honor of graduation rites.

Congratulations Batch 2012! The world's a great place. Enjoy! :)

Weeks and weeks

Let's keep this thing alive, shall we? ;)

It was another loaded week last week. A good kind of loaded. As I would always quip, it's better than bumming around. Anyhow, I did lots of things for mi tutorials, doing all these reviewers and things like that since it's exam season and everyone knows how a busy season it is for teachers, tutors. And tiring it is, it had been helpful as I look for more ways on how to make these kids learn those lessons. :)

Sadly, this busyness made me miss doing things like this. Well, honestly, most of the time, all the thoughts are just stuck in my head. Hehe. Thankfully, instead of staring on a blank screen, I blog-hopped and found some awesome new blogs to follow and read. :) (I'll make a post on this/them some time soon. *cross fingers*) Really stoked about my new finds. Yes, yes, the internet is a good thing in the first place. Hehe. Made me want to do more with my craft. :)

Hmm, on a semi-related note, I'll leave you with this one in lieu of missed February posts and that supposed entry about love which I will be writing someday. I'm just not sure when, though. Coolio video. ♥
Boom! I don't know  why the video won't upload. You can click on the title/link instead:)

Keep calm, yes keep calm

I am a panicky person.

I don't know. It's really obvious when I'm bothered by something because I get clumsy and all. That is why it is quite hard for me to keep calm. Ironically though, back in high school, I believed I was "calm" because I don't get shaky nervous whenever I join contests. I get "numbed", I'd like to quip, of nervousness. Oh well, I have learned that there are more nakaka-pressure circumstances in life than contests. Ha-ha! Now, I get it. Maybe the reason why I had that belief about myself is that because contests were the few things that were my life back then. Apparently, it's way different today. And I am thankful that I am exposed to such things.

It's a happy thing to know that you're learning. Even if oftentimes it's hard, we just have to do it, you know. As it is often true, those of worth are the hardest to work on. Ok, so back to the "panic". It has been always my prayer not to get out of any situation without learning anything. And I am praying the same today. I am praying to continually learn to keep calm and carry on and make it to that day when panic is not anymore in my vocabulary. ;)

And the picture? I edited it to make it my phone's wallpaper to remind to Keep Calm and Carry On. Better yet, to Keep Calm and Pray. :)

Howdy!

It's been a while and boom! it's February. Something's with this month; I realized that just as of this writing. True enough, this has been a roller coaster month so far. I suddenly am having paperwork to do (aside from my pending work which I have to update like NOW!). I like how things are going with regards to this writing. It is a bit "scary" for me being a noob but I like the fact that I am learning from this experience:)

Meanwhile, love month is on. Sure that's one primary reason why everyone's excited. As for me, I have been learning much from Lifemixx. Lalalove, indeed. But that would be another entry, about the whole love thing.
What I'm really trying to point out is that while everyone's all over Valentine's, Generals are buzzing over Kalilangan.

You see, this is one of the biggest festivals of the city and I am happy to announce that they actually came up with lots of activities this year, considering that the events started today when the festival opening is still on the 21st.

I haven't really attended the festivities full-time, by which I mean I only catch up with the street dancing thing - something I started doing just two years ago. I do hope to participate more. In fairness, gumagala na rin ako sa plaza tuwing Pebrero. :)) AND yes! I do hope you'll participate, too! :)

Here's the link to the schedule of activities for you to check out!

These days

I just had one my I-really-feel-like-an-adult-now-days. Ha-ha! What a way to describe this day. Boon and bane. I had pending work, new work and thinking about future work. :) I thought of so many things -thoughts, that is- and hope they could one day show up on your screen. (I just figured this could read "I thought of so many thoughts." Wrong, right?Whatever)

I am excited to read Productive Pinoy by Yeng Remulla. Ok, I have to say the cover got me. But it was the title that struck me. Productivity. Pinoy. Yes, Pinoy context. Reminded me of ItsmorefuninthePhilippines, I don't know why. Anyways, I had read a couple of pages when Ira showed it to me. (It was from her that I learned about the book.)  Funny and indeed true. I can't wait to read it.

p.s I can be the exact opposite of the title. It's time to become the title. Please. Srsly :)

Thirtieth aka promosyon

One of my college classmates planned a meet-up several weeks ago. The plan was to really get the portfolios from our former prof's house and at the same time spend some time there. Fast forward this week, our prof agreed to have us! This is really something (at least, for me) since (it seems to me that) she's kind of a private person. Hehe. But she was really nice to let us in! :))

It was a nice house that we couldn't help taking pictures! We brought some food to share over convo. Some played a little with the piano. :)  And they tried belly-dancing! Ha-ha! How was that for a visit?! Had it been earlier, we could've watched a movie! Apparently, there were only a few of us. Few as in seven. Ha-ha! Others weren't able to come because of other appointments. (We'll try better with the organizing next time. :)) It was fun, though. Personally, it was a privilege to be spending some time our at former prof's residence, not to mention she's really one of the people I (we) admire in the academe. And we get to meet her soon-to-be-geologist daughter whom she had told us stories about back in college. Well, syempre na-starstruck na naman ako. Ha-ha!

While the others are taking pictures, I cannot help look at these
I just love publications from LIFE. Seeing sister publications of the now-defunct LIFE magazine excites me!! :)) There were other good reads, too! I wanna go back there and borrow some! Ha-ha! We took more pictures, talked about the future, and listened to words of wisdom. Such an experience.
The mall was, I think, the next destination in mind. But because of the portfolios which are somewhat Breaking Dawn-thick, and of some other appointments, we just parted ways. Not me and Mel, though. XD! I accompanied her to the mall and we just took a stroll. And devoured this
Melody! Bakit ba tayo walang picture?!  Ha-ha!

The almost year-end post

I have so many things, persons, events, and everything to be thankful for this year but this ain't the post for that. Not yet. But this is one of them, to say.

I stayed at Davao for two days for the license registration. Thankfully, I'm done with it and finished the whole process in a breeze. At least, early enough to catch lunch. A one-day thing turned to be an overnight stay because my college classmates and I wanted to line up the earliest possible time at PRC. Read: 5am :)

Nothing fancy this time. We took the night off at a boarding house to save. :)) I missed the whole wi-fi thing at FTC Towers but it was just fine. We just headed straight to our business, ate lunch at Penong's, rested for a while and headed back home. Really nothing fancy since the day's really tiring and everyone else (yes, so including me) has to catch up with something back home. :) We enjoyed this ride to the boarding house because the PUV is new to us. The terrain also is amusing! We acted like kids! Ha-ha!)

It was also my first time to eat at Penong's. I'm Chacha Loser for not having pictures of the food :(...but definitely, it's something you shouldn't miss when going to Davao. Think Mang Inasal sincerely Davao :).

I enjoyed the streets of Davao because of its busyness. ;) I don't know I have this thing for busy streets and traffic is nice (somehow) because it gives you time to take shots! Hehe. I'm not good at taking pictures though. I'm working at it :))

I like this trip because Bonamine did work on me or shall I say, my system finally accepted Bonamine and saved me from a lot of (gross) hassle. And they played Three Idiots on the bus. Laugh and cry at the same time :)

fashyown

Ooops! I ain't fashion blogger. But I have been reading several for some time now. And all these are getting into me. Boon and bane. Boon in a sense that I an learning how to dress-up and style even just a bit. It's a bane because it's really getting into me.

I've been this lately, trying to come up with something more than the shirt + jeans that I used to be in for four years. Well, it's been shirt and jeans still but the shirt has some style now, being flow-y and all that. Plus, I'm into boyfriend jeans lately (I just folded the bottom of this one). And the shoes. I'm not yet ready with heels so I opted to have this one from Primadonna I like that despite their wide array of heels, platforms, and wedges, they have these flats and shoes that are not really that feminine. :) Albeit I'd like to wear the heels someday. :))

Apparently,I'm thinking of ensembles to wear so I'd look a bit more professional. Ha-ha!

Sound of silence

At times, all we have to do is listen.
And not talk. It pays to listen before we speak.

p.s I have a deadline mid-week.

Mail love affair

Since the week I received these , my interest for mail and anything sent from courier grew. It's one of my kind of "nice surprise". The catalog, the planner, and now the notebook we purchased from SheenaLovesSunsets. They're really nice with the verse and drawings on them. I've been eyeing them since and because someone gave me some money as a treat for passing, my sister and i ordered some. :)

Choosing took me some time, ha-ha! because everything was pretty! I would have wanted the black one but settled for this instead.(Next time uli.) See the verse? It's a great reminder that there is actually (even if sometimes, or most of the time for some, we think there isn't)  SOMEONE we can call upon. The verse says it all :) These little things had been making me happy. I'm a sucker for notebooks, you know. And pens, too. I got myself fancy pens from Pinkbox and gave in to some Angry Birds pen. XD But these pens are a different story. :)

I also joined this mailing thing of a favorite blogger of mine. I sent just a little something. What thrilled me is that it's just my second time to mail something! Do it the post-office-way! :)) I still think snail mails are one of the sweetest things in the world. I'm excited for more to come of these mails and packages! :))

another leap

Surreal. Still.
But yes, it's here and  it's true. I am just so thankful to God for giving me this. It's like another line has been drawn for me  to continue my life. :) This week had been amazingly awesome! First, these (so material happiness, ha-ha!):
2012 belle d'jour planner I won from Patty Laurel.
Pouch from General Sanots Online Newsmag
Catalog from this art school
and then the LET results!
It was more than enough. Now, I'm off to the next phase. Hmm, I wonder how the circumstances would be. One thing is sure though I'm off to somewhere and God is here.

I thank everyone who prayed with and for me/us, people who encouraged us all through out, helped me/us with the grueling tasks I/we have to undergo, believed that I could make it (even if sometimes I don't think the same).
